CCY: Chartered Commission for Youth

The Chartered Committee for Youth is a group of youth and adults from the seven different convocations in the Diocese of North Carolina appointed by the Bishop to govern all the youth programs in the diocese. 

Diocesan Council recently approved a redefining of the Diocese Youth Committee (DYC) to the Chartered Committee Youth (CCY).  This reformation brings the Happening Board into the CCY, enables more youth to be a part of this leadership team, and builds upon the regional ministries of the diocese.  A board of 15, three youth and two adults, from each region will be selected from the CCY. This board will include all Regional Youth Missioners, the Happening Coordinator, the Diocesan Youth Missioner and the Assistant to the Diocesan Youth Missioner.

Last June 14th-17th, 2009, 2009 twenty-one youth and nine adults gathered at Phoebe Needles Conference Center in Virginia for the annual CCY (Chartered Commission to Youth) Retreat. During these four days, participants strengthened their leadership skills in planning and leading worship services, small groups, and games.  In addition, each member contemplated on the many gifts God has bestowed upon us and how we are called to use these gifts.  These gifts will be shared as members of the CCY plan and lead the many different youth events throughout the year, such as Fall Youth Event, Happening, Bishop’s Ball and Spring Youth Eve.

The CCY Leadership Training Retreat is scheduled for June 13th-16th, 2010.
