Mission Experiences within the North West Region of the Diocese of North Carolina
Saint Andrew's, Greensboro: This was our 11th year traveling as a group to Glory Ridge (June 21-27). Our group took on four jobs including building a wall and door to make a women’s shelter handicap accessible, building a 54’ ramp for a recent stroke victim, building walker accessible steps for a woman with arthritis, and repairing a porch for a disadvantaged family. It was a great week of work and fellowship. Zac Engle
Saint Thomas, Reidsville: Our Youth, along with the youth from Epiphany, Eden and Saint David's in Cheraw, SC, went to Charleston, SC to work with the Methodist Relief Organization. We had 45 people (youth and adults) who worked on 3 work sites doing roof repair, dry wall, painting, building decks, etc as each house needed. There are pictures on St. Thomas' website, as well as a copy of our spiritual program for the week. Vicki Smith
Saint Francis, Greensboro had 2 mission trips to Charleston SC. Our Middle School youth mission trip was June 21-27. We had two teams of youth working with United Methodist Relief Center (UMRC) working on two seperate sites. One team did demolition of a mobile home that had burned so that the frame could be recovered and another home could be built. The other team was applying water sealant to a roof, replacing siding, and painting.
Saint Francis' Senior High youth worked with UMRC and Habitat for Humanity of Berkley County. We had 3 teams of youth on this trip. One team worked with Habitat on a new home being built. They installed a roof, installed insulation, and hung sheetrock throughout the house. Our two other teams worked with UMRC. Both teams had to install a roof and paint. One of the teams built a deck on the home. Between the two trips we had a total of 70 Middle School, High School, and college youth and adults. Pictures from these trips
